TEXT: Gen. 1:37:3-11,41:3 11

Memory Verse: “And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughter shall prophesy and your young men shall see visions and your old men shall dream DREAMS”. Acts 2.17

Dreams and visions are the promises of the outpouring of God’s spirit and they would play a major role in the prophetic calendar of God for the Church in these last days; The Bible says, “Where there is no vision, the people perish, without them the Church would be handicapped from fulfilling the ultimate plan of God. In order to be a fulfilled Church and Christian, it is my prayer that God would ignite your heart with dream and vision.

  1. What is a Dream/Vision? (Acts 12:17, 16:16-19; Gen 37: 5-8, 11:1-6)
  2. Types of Dreams /Visions. (Jer. 1:5; Acts 26:16-17; Gen. 11:3-6; Jud. 11:1-6)
  3. The Importance of Dream/Visions.

1. WHAT IS A DREAM VISION? Gen. 37:5-11; Act 5:11, 16:9

Dream and vision are the preview of our destiny. They are revelation of our divine purpose and human possibilities.

a. A dream/vision is a glimpse into your prophetic destiny, Acts 2:17, 26:15-19; Jer. 1:11-17, prophetic vision.

b. It is the visual manifestation of your God given purpose, Gen. 37:5-8.

c. It is the mental picture of a desired future, Gen. 11:4-6.

There are two types of dreams; Physical Dreams – Ec. 5:3. Dreams cometh through the multitude of business that comes as a result of your desires or aspirations in life, Gen. 11:3 6, Jud. 11:1-6. The physical dreams comes through Jephthah and the whole world through their desire to be great also can be called a dream.

Spiritual Dreams: This comes as a result of an encounter with God. Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.” – Jer. 1:5. (Check Acts 26:13-17) Your nearness to God will bring about dream and vision of purpose. Paul’s Ministry was given to him through a vision.

  • All successes in life begin with a dream.
  • No significant accom plishments can be made in life without dream/vision, Acts 26:16-19.
  • Without a dream/vision from God, God’s purpose for particular person/group/ generation would be aborted. Where there is no revelation, people cast off restraint;
but blessed is the one who heeds wisdom’s instruction.  –Pro. 29:18.
  • It gives focus to a man’s life, Phil. 3:12-14.
  • It gives a man a reason to be alive. Jesus replied, No one who puts a hand to the plow and looks back is fit for service in the kingdom of God. Lk. 9:62.
  • Until a man embraces God’s dream or vision for his life, he cannot enter into the future God has in store for him.
  • It help one to maximize his/her time. Thomas Carlyle says: “He who has vision of eternity will have no hold on time.”  Paul also said “As a prisoner for the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received.” –Eph. 4:1
