MEMORY VERSE: Hebrews 11:1

INTRODUCTION: Faith and hope are identical twins. They are so closely netted that you can mistake one for another. They are indeed inseparable. It is hope that sustains your faith in times of waiting for what you are believing God for.

  1. The relationship between faith and hope. “Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.” – Hebrews 11:1
  2. The reward of hope.

The Relationship Between Faith And Hope

In Heb. 11:1, we can see that there is a direct link between faith and hope. You cannot have one without the other. The first step out of a desperate situation is hope, for hope is the goal of faith and provides motivation for faith.

The Rewards Of Hope

  1.  Hope keeps faith alive. “Against all hope, Abraham in hope believed and so became the father of many nations, just as it had been said to him, “So shall your offspring be.” – Romans 4:18
  2.  Hope cause rejoicing. Rom. 12:12, 1 Peter 1:8 . If you believe that God will supply what you hope for, you will rejoice. Joy is a sure sign  of hope.
  3. Hope gives peace. Romans 15:13 says “ May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”
  4. Hope causes purity.  It helps us in keeping the coming of the Lord in our heart. This positively affect our actions. 1 John 3:3 “All who have this hope in him purify themselves, just as he is pure.
  5. Hope lessens sorrow. The pressures in our everyday life are lessened through the hope that God[s promises are true and that negative situations in our  lives are only temporal. 1 Thess. 1:3 says “We remember before our God and Father your work produced by faith, your labor prompted by love, and your endurance inspired by hope in our Lord Jesus Christ.

It is important as believers to understand that we are called into a hope (that is; the hope of glory) and that before we can actualize all that God has purposed for us through redemption, we must view all our situations through hope for this hope will never make you ashamed. Romans 5:5  says “And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.”

I am sure you’re blessed! Please share with us your understanding of this topic. We will be happy to answer questions too.
