How, exactly, does one tell a story with their web design? And how can that possibly have anything to do with a website’s success? Learn the answers to these questions and more in this edition of Divi Nation as guest host Melissa Love and our host Nathan B. Weller explore the topic of Storytelling Design.

Divi Nation Episode 03: Storytelling Design featuring Melissa Love

In this episode of Divi Nation we hear the story of Melissa Love of TheDesignSpace.Co, a web designer and photographer out of the UK who uses Divi to create beautiful, high profile websites for photographers. This Week in WordPress 02

This week in WordPress Melissa and I talk about three really interesting articles that delve into neuroscience, content experiences, and whether or not we’ll all be blogging on Facebook in the near future.

Articles We Discussed:

Melissa Love on Storytelling Design

In this video Melissa shares her design background and gets extremely practical about how she uses Storytelling Design in all of her web design projects. She even helps to illustrate her ideas by walking me through a brand new website she’s built with Divi 2.4+.

How to Plan & Execute Long-Form Content for Building with WordPress and Divi

We’ve been talking a lot lately about what is now possible with Divi in terms of custom long-form content–and the potential is huge. However, what we haven’t talked about–until now–is everything you need to do before building your story in Divi in order for it to be a success. So if you’re interested in creating the next jaw dropping interactive web story, this is the video for you.

Tools & Resources Mentioned:

Divi Site Makeover 01 (Call for Submissions)

With the launch of Divi 2.5 there is very little the average WordPress user can’t do. So I thought it might be the perfect time to make a call for our first ever Divi Site Makeover.

The concept is very simple. Take a before screenshot of your website or a client website running a different theme. Re-design with Divi, take another screenshot, and submit both images (plus a link) for review.

In a month’s time we’ll show off our favorites on the podcast and here at the blog.

Submission Details:

Submit your Divi Site Makeover to podcast[at]elegantthemes.com with the subject line DIVI SITE MAKEOVER SUBMISSION.

Reminder: Last Chance to Enter the Divi Footer Design Challenge

Thursday of this week is the absolute latest we are accepting submissions for the Divi Footer Design Challenge. So if you’d like a website you’re working on to be featured in both the Divi Nation Podcast and on the Elegant Themes blog, now is the time to send in that submission.

Submit your Divi Footer Design to podcast[at]elegantthemes.com with the subject line DIVI FOOTER DESIGN CHALLENGE.

Production Notes

Not a lot to report this week. The production process and tools used were all the same as in the previous two episodes. However, if you have any production questions please feel free to ask them in the comments section.
